Health Equity Tracker Wins Title of “Best Health Initiative” at Halo Awards 2022

Atlanta, GA,  May, 18, 2022Engage for Good hosts 2022 Halo Awards and announces The Satcher Health Leadership Institute (SHLI) at Morehouse School of Medicine and Google.org as two time award recipients at their most recent ceremony. The organizations were recognized for their work in addressing and bringing health inequities and data gaps to the forefront with its renowned, Health Equity Tracker. Daniel E. Dawes, JD, Executive Director of SHLI and Jen Carter, Global Head of Technology with Google.org accepted the awards on behalf of the organizations.

Both organizations are being recognized for “Best Health Initiative” receiving the highest honor of a GOLD Halo Award. They were also awarded a SILVER Halo Award for “Best COVID-19 Initiative”, the second highest honor.

Engaged for Goods’ Halo Awards are North America’s highest honor for corporate social impact initiatives that showcase outstanding consumer engagement or employee engagement efforts. These prestigious CSR, cause marketing and corporate social impact awards focus on initiatives in which brand purpose and social impact intersect to help build a better world and the bottom line.”

 “When COVID-19 cases first surfaced Google.org decided to provide funding and technical expertise to help track the spread of the disease and work to gain insights in the disparate racial and ethnic impacts of COVID-19, that could lead to a more equitable government response.

Google.org partnered with the Satcher Health Leadership Institute (SHLI) at Morehouse School of Medicine. SHLI received a Google.org Fellowship which allowed a team of 18 Google employees to work with a team at Morehouse full-time for six months pro bono to launch the Health Equity Tracker (HET) in 2021, supported expansion of the Morehouse technology team, and supported the creation of media and communication resources to help other nonprofits to us data and technology in their work.” – Engagedforgood.org
