Allyson S. Belton, MPH is the Director of Education and Training for the Satcher Health Leadership Institute (SHLI) at Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM). In this role, she is responsible for the content design, delivery, and evaluation of transdisciplinary leadership training programs for diverse learners, in alignment with the SHLI priority and focus areas (Health Systems Transformation, Political Determinants of Health, and Mental and Behavioral Health).
For nearly 20 years, Allyson has worked in examining the mental and physical health outcomes of underserved populations; designing and implementing programs for community leadership development; and conducting research towards reducing health disparities within local, national, and international settings. She also holds a passion for educating diverse learners by developing health equity-based leadership training programs and curricula for various learning groups and teaching in the undergraduate, graduate, and professional spaces.
Allyson holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Spelman College and a Master of Public Health with a concentration in Health Promotion and Behavior from Georgia State University. She is currently a student at the University of South Florida, working on her Doctor of Public Health with a concentration in Advanced Practice Leadership. She has long maintained a heart for working with people and her overall goal is to continue working within the public health sector to bring about better awareness towards optimal physical, mental, and emotional health. When not working, studying, or traveling, she’s enjoying time with her family and her fur baby Princeton, volunteering, or taking time for some much needed rest!
