Program Overview

The Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO) and the Satcher Health Leadership Institute (SHLI) at Morehouse School of Medicine, with funding support from the CDC, have created the Developing Executive Leaders in Public Health (DELPH) program. This initiative increases and strengthens participants' visibility and exposure in public health systems, access to key networks, and leadership development opportunities.

Training Objectives

The DELPH program enhances the capacity and strengthens the network of mid-senior level governmental public health professionals seeking to advance their careers. We provide an intensive ten-month leader development cohort experience that empowers participants through:

  • Enhanced visibility in governmental public health systems
  • Expanded access to key networking opportunities
  • Personal leadership identity development and strengthening
  • Strategic leadership development planning and implementation
  • Peer support network connections and ongoing relationships

Program Structure

Our comprehensive program includes skill-building workshops, individual coaching, professional networking opportunities, peer-to-peer support, and increased exposure to national thought leaders. Additionally, we provide ongoing monitoring of program alumni, evaluation of changes in practice, and annual opportunities for alumni engagement and peer connections.

  • Open to participants regardless of race, color, religion, sex, age, gender, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity/gender expression, or disability status
