The National Academy of Medicine (NAM) today announced the election of 90 regular members and 10 international members during its annual meeting. Election to the Academy is considered one of the highest honors in the fields of health and medicine and recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding professional achievement and commitment to service.Daniel E. Dawes, JD, Executive Director, Satcher Health Leadership Institute, Morehouse School of Medicine. Dawes is a national leader in health equity whose groundbreaking books 150 Years of Obamacare and Political Determinants of Health have reframed the conversation and led to actionable policy solutions.  An architect of the Affordable Care Act’s health equity provisions, principal investigator of major research projects examining the determinants and drivers of health inequities, including the Health Equity Tracker, and co-founder of national networks to bolster health equity and mitigate the impact of COVID-19 in minoritized and marginalized communities.
