About Jahmal

William Jahmal Miller is a healthcare executive, board director, and public policy leader with 28 years of experience building equitable, high-performing health systems. He serves as Chief Administrative Officer for Dignity Health Mercy Medical Group, a CommonSpirit Health division, where he directs strategy, operations, finance, and governance for a medical group generating more than $270 million in annual operating revenue across nearly 600 medical professionals. A Senate-confirmed appointee of Governor Jerry Brown, he served from 2013 to 2018 as the inaugural Deputy Director of the Office of Health Equity at the California Department of Public Health. He is the author of Equity, Equality & Justice for All (2023).

California Department of Public Health. Founding Deputy Director (2013–2018) of the Office of Health Equity, helping shape statewide policy and cross-sector strategies to address systemic health disparities.
