SUBMISSION DEADLINE: DUE NOVEMBER 15, 2021

The purpose of Health Equity, African-Americans, and Public Health is to offer scholarly perspectives about the complex dimensions and interrelationships between aspects of health inequities and African- Americans aimed to advance health equity. This edited volume will provide a critical examination of selected factors that create, perpetuate, and exacerbate health inequities; as well as illumination about the unique experiences of African-Americans as catalysts for transformation in the United States. We will utilize a health equity lens, understanding that achieving health equity requires valuing all individuals and populations equally, recognizing and rectifying historical injustices, and providing resources according to need. Health Equity, African-Americans and Public Health is divided into four sections: I-Psychosocial & Behavioral Determinants of Health, II: Sociocultural Determinants of Health, III: Environmental Determinants of Health and IV: Political & Economic Determinants of Health. Each of these sections will delineate and include chapters that identify core constructs, contextual material and strategies to promote health equity from multidisciplinary academic experts.
