The SHLI Division of Health Policy is excited to announce that Brian McGregor, PhD, a behavioral health disparities researcher in the division was appointed to the Southeastern Health Equity Council (SHEC) for a three year term, effective October 28, 2015. Dr. McGregor will be one of six representatives from Georgia on the council, which has representation from across HHS Region IV. SHLI Health Policy Director Harry J. Heiman, MD, MPH, also serves on the council.
SHEC is one of ten regional health equity councils in the U.S. formed in 2011 as part of the National Partnership for Action to End Health Disparities. This is the first national multi-sector community- and partnership-driven effort on behalf of health equity, spearheaded by the federal Office of Minority Health (OMH).
In October, 2015, Brian McGregor, PhD, as also appointed to the council, one of six representatives, together with Dr. Heiman, serving on the council for the state of Georgia.
