Dear Leader,

The Satcher Health Leadership Institute was established in 2006 and we are delighted to celebrate our 10 year anniversary.  We are committed on building on the strong foundation that was established by Dr. David Satcher, MD, PhD.  Collaboratively we are making remarkable strides to stimulate innovation to support SHLI’s vision to be a “leading transformative force for global health equity” and Morehouse School of Medicine’s (MSM) vision of “leading the creation and advancement of health equity”.

Our multidisciplinary faculty and staff continue to demonstrate excellence in research, community based programs, health policy initiatives, teaching and service to diverse communities. We have four divisions concerning behavioral health, health policy, sexual health and community voices: healthcare for the undeserved; and two major centers – Kennedy Center for Mental Health Policy and Research and the Transdisciplinary  Collaborative Center for Health Disparities Research.  Our focused efforts align with MSM’s 5-year Strategic Plan, which is framed by the pillars upon which our institution was founded- Knowledge, Wisdom, Excellence, and Service.

Together, we are upholding the core values of SHLI which includes: integrity, diversity, trustworthiness, consensus building, prevention as a priority, and equal access to quality of healthcare for all persons. We encourage your participation in our 10 year Anniversary activities (see our schedule of events), the “my health equity vision board initiative” and to learn of our exciting community engagement happening at  We truly appreciate your ongoing support  and collaboration with SHLI.
